Amenities in Milton Real Estate
Once known as one of the top holly wreath producers in the United States, Milton has long stood for what historians like to call the “Three Bs.” But while boats (shipbuilding), buttons (button factories), and beans (at the Draper King Cole plant) dominated Milton during past generations, today the town is more like taking a leisurely stroll through a Norman Rockwell painting. The downtown area is divided by the Broadkill River and features several historic buildings, most significantly the grand ole’ Milton Theater, which still hosts many live events throughout the year. Downtown also features the original location of King’s Ice Cream, as well as the Lydia Black Cannon Museum and the Milton Public Library.
Heading north out of town, residents of Milton real estate run into what is today the town’s biggest tourist attraction: the Dogfish Head Brewery. The brewery and its Steampunk Treehouse are big draws to tiny Milton, and with good reason—they're definitely one-of-a-kind! If you haven’t taken a tour of the brewery, it’s one of the best you’ll find anywhere, led by knowledgeable and fun tour guides and ending with a taste of several of the brewery’s unique concoctions.
During the warm weather months, Milton also boasts outdoor concerts in Memorial Park and is very close to both the Delaware beach resorts of Lewes and Rehoboth Beach, as well as Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. And, as with anywhere in coastal Delaware, locally owned or managed restaurants are aplenty. Some great dining experiences to check out include Irish Eyes, Po’ Boys, Vintage Pasta, and Modern Mixture Too. Oh, and don’t forget to check out Milton every year for the region’s best Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, which meanders through the heart of the historic district.
