6 Great Southern Delaware Events Highlight the First Weekend of June
Now that Memorial Day Weekend has passed and we’ve all settled in for what promises to be a fantastic Summer of 2017, it’s time to look ahead once again, as we do every week, at some great local happenings coming up in southern Delaware.
And speaking of southern Delaware, just a quick reminder that we posted our New for 2017 blog last week. We featured some great new restaurants, new recreational facilities, a new outdoor concert venue and much more.
So, be sure to give it a read by clicking below, and then print or save it for future reference. There are lots of great things planned for the 2017 season, and we want to make sure you get the most “bang for your buck” here in coastal Delaware.
Now, on to this week’s Weekender Blog, as always brought to you by the real estate professionals at the Oldfather Group of Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty.
Headlining this weekend’s collection of events is the inaugural Coastal Delaware Restaurant Week, with several of our regionally renowned eateries getting it on the fun.
Read much more about this below, as well as other great events coming up in the next few days. This includes the Bethany Beach Seaside Craft Show, the Dewey Color Run and several others.
And, as we post our “Weekender Blog” on Wednesdays, we’re also previewing a special event that will be held in the middle of next week in Dewey Beach.
Okay, let’s get right to it, shall we? Here are our choices for fun and exciting annual events this weekend at and near the Delaware beaches.
Coastal Delaware Restaurant Week (June 4-9). This inaugural event features more than 60 of coastal Delaware’s finest eateries, located between Lewes and Fenwick Island, and kicks off this Sunday, June 4.
Each participating location will be offering fixed-price “chef inspired” meals, with a portion of proceeds from the event going to support Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth.

Bethany Beach Seaside Craft Show (June 3). For the 13th consecutive year, this popular event in the “quiet resort” of Bethany Beach will be taking over the downtown area.
More than 100 crafters are expected for this year’s event, in specialties that include jewelry, pottery, photography, woodworking and more.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, June 3, and will be centered on the boardwalk and bandstand areas in downtown Bethany Beach.

Participants can choose between 15 mile, 25 mile, 50 mile and “century” routes, and completion of the ride is optional.
The Odd Fellows Grill and several local microbreweries will be on hand providing refreshments at the finish party, which will be held at Janosik Park on Broad Creek.
The event kicks off at 7 a.m., at North Laurel Elementary School on Wilson Street, with the after party beginning at 11. From 12 to 5 p.m., there will also be a microbrewery festival at Janosik Park.
