Even though Delaware is one of the smallest states in the country, there's still plenty to do here, as a family. The state is full of natural areas, museums, beaches and plenty of history. Here are a few of the best activities and attractions the entire family can enjoy.
Dover International Speedway
The best place for racing in the state and hosts of NASCAR rates yearly, the Dover International Speedway is one of the top venues for families. Enjoy the race and the FanZone, which features live music, games, autograph sessions and more. The Monster FunZone is designed for kids with rock climbing, bounce houses, face painting, a DJ and plenty more. Come for the race, but make sure to show up early and enjoy everything offered by the speedway.
Russell W. Peterson Urban Wildlife Reserve
This wild life reserve provides a four-story environmental center full of indoor and outdoor exhibits. The observation deck is the perfect place to view the reserve and kids will love walking along the boardwalk. You can enjoy the observing the marshlands as you learn all about the nature of Delaware.
Cape Henlopen State Park
One of the most beautiful parks in the state, Cape Henlopen State Park offers plenty of fun activities. Families can enjoy swimming, hiking, fishing, picnicking, biking, kayaking and horseback riding throughout the park. You can even stay in one of the cabins or camp at one of the sties with the park.
Rehoboth Beach
Of course, a trip to the beach always provides plenty of family fun. Build sand castles and enjoy swimming in the ocean. Rehoboth Beach is also home to a mile-long boardwalk with plenty of entertainment, shopping and dining options.
