  • Two car garages

Millsboro's biggest and newest development is the sprawling Plantation Lakes community, located just west of Route 113, but there are actually a number of exclusive communities that offer great amenities with relatively low HOA fees. These amenities include golf memberships, tennis courts, outdoor pools, and access to private fitness centers and game rooms. The main retirement community is Independence, which features a clubhouse and plenty of amenities for the 55-and-over demographic. And, don't forget, the beach is just a short drive away, along with all of the fun and excitement that defines life along the Delaware coast.

Amenities Near Millsboro Real Estate

deleware-flagBecause the town is located at the headwaters of the Indian River, many residents of Millsboro real estate enjoy the water-related activities that the river provides. Among the most popular of these activities are boating, fishing and, a little further downstream, crabbing. Part of the First State's inland bay system, along with Little Assawoman Bay and Rehoboth Bay, the Indian River Bay is connected to the Atlantic Ocean via the Indian River Inlet, located just a short distance from downtown Millsboro. Nearby, Cupola Park is a popular gathering place for families who want to enjoy a picnic lunch or let the kids play on the playground, all while enjoying the scenic river, along with the wildlife it attracts.

Other than water-related activities on the Indian River and Bay, recreational opportunities in or near Millsboro properties include Millsboro Bowling Lanes, the historic Clayton Theater, golfing at Baywood Greens and, for those who are so inclined, a serene labyrinth and meditation garden at St. Mark's Episcopal Church.  Millsboro is also home to many of the area's most popular fall festivals, including the Nanticoke Indian Powwow, the Hispanic Festival and Labor Day Long Neck Style. The town's Christmas parade is also one of the region's most popular and features floats, school bands and lots of fun and excitement.

Downtown Millsboro's business community is vastly different from that on the main Route 113 thoroughfare. Along Route 24, you'll find Dairy Queen, where many classic car shows are held during the summer months, as well as antique shops, small mom and pop type stores, and some nice locally owned eateries, including the Georgia House and the Bluewater Grill.  The police department and post office are also located along this busy roadway, as well as the former home of Sen. John J. Williams, once known as the “conscience of the senate,” which is today owned and utilized by Delaware Technical & Community College. The Millsboro Volunteer Fire Department is one block south of Route 24 and the Millsboro Public Library and Millsboro Little League Complex are located just north of the busy roadway.

Delaware Route 24 runs through the middle of downtown Millsboro and serves as a major east-west route to the Delaware beach resorts of Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach. Along with U.S. Route 113 that runs north to south and feeds the southern resort towns of Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island, as well as Ocean City, Md., the majority of Millsboro's businesses are located here. Business on Route 113 is today dominated by the Peninsula Crossing Shopping Center, which features cornerstone stores B.J.'s Wholesale Club and Lowes, as well as many smaller restaurants and shops.
